about

Noise for Dreamers is an album to corrupt your dreams. It was written with the idea that each song should sound the same from moment to moment for the duration of the song, but be interesting enough to listen to for an extended period of time. This way it shouldn't be distracting to listen to as you drift off to sleep.

The original intention was to create a pure drone album, since that seemed the best way to promote sleep. As I beta tested the album, however, I found that the noisier tracks worked even better. I can recall a time 5 or so years ago when I was sleeping in an unfamiliar place. There was a fan in the room that put out a very loud and layered noise. As I drifted off I began to hallucinate sounds. I could hear a major storm outside, wind and rain and distant thunder. Then a cat jumped on me and I realized that the weather was fine and it was a fan the whole time.

I think noise music stimulates the imagination. This is why on Noise for Dreamers you'll find a seamless blend of strange drones and noisescapes. Think of it as a tour of the dreamworld. For best results, listen on a stereo instead of earbuds. Set the volume fairly low, keeping in mind the first track is about as loud as it gets. If you keep a dream journal send me your results. Mine have been weird.

Disclaimer: This album isn't made to help you sleep. It can help, but there is better material for that. This album is for explorers, for people who want a little more out of that 33% of life spent sleeping.

Special thanks to 420Chan's /dr/ board for naming the tracks.
